23rd (Royal Welch Fusiliers) Regiment, a fine and extremely rare officer’s shoulder belt plate, c1815-35, copper-gilt back plate with slightly rounded corners, mounted thereon a hand wrought gilt mount displaying the crown over a circular strap ‘Royal Welch Fusiliers’ and ‘XXIII’, above the numerals a silver Prince of Wales’s crest and motto, the mounts applied via stout ‘knocked-over’ copper wires, one hook and two studs to reverse, some surface grime on and around the mounts otherwise excellent condition £900-1200
