Dennis Patrick McCormac was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, on 6 September 1947, suffering from an injury to his right toe. Discharged ten days later to the S.T.C. (Warminster), Royal Engineers, he later served in operations against Indonesian insurgents in Malaya and Singapore between 1964 and 1965.
