Sydney Hubert Blight was born at Broken Hill, New South Wales, on 21 September 1914, and enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 20 October 1939. He served as a Signaller with the 2/10th Infantry Brigade in the the Middle East from November 1940 to February 1942, and then as a Cook with the Australian Army Catering Corps in New Guinea from August 1943 to May 1944. He was discharged at Adelaide on 27 November 1945 and died in South Australia on 30 August 1983.
