Royal Society for the Protection of Life from Fire, 3rd type, silver, the obverse featuring a man carrying a woman over his shoulder, with a flaming building in the background, the reverse engraved ‘W. A. H. Haws Esq., Member of Committee 1866. To commemorate Incorpn. of the Fire Escape Force with the Metrop: Brigade 1867’, planchet only but with trace of clip suspension, minor edge nicks, about extremely fine and scarce £200-£240
The Society’s 3rd type medal was issued between c.1852 and 1892. The above is unusual in that it was one of seven silver Honorary awards presented to committee members in 1867.
