Memorial Plaque (3) (Henry Charles Prodehl; Stephanus Andries Nel; Willem Martin van Niekerk) first in card envelope with Buckingham Palace enclosure, last drilled at three and nine o’clock, otherwise good very fine (3) £80-£100
Henry Charles Prodehl served with the 1st South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action at the Battle of Delville Wood, Somme, on 17 July 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
Stephanus Andries Nel served with the 12th South African Infantry in East Africa, and died on 13 September 1916. He is buried in Dar es Salaam War Cemetery, Tanzania.
Willem Martin van Niekerk served with the 1st South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front, and died on 9 April 1917. He is buried in Point-du-Jour Military Cemetery, Athies, France.
