Bertie Gore was born in 1896 and attested for the Cheshire Regiment on 20 November 1911. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 6 March 1915. He was twice wounded by gun shot, on 25 May 1915 and 7 November 1917, and was demobilised on 8 July 1919, being awarded a Silver War Badge, No. B252328.
