The Udel Quartet, founded in 1880 by Karl Udel (1844-1927), a Croatian who moved to Vienna in 1861, enjoyed considerable success, performing in European cities into the early years of the twentieth century. The other members included Viktor Keldorfer (1873-1959) and Eugen Weiss (1854-1904).
