A mid 20th century Indonesian Yogya silver dish, the square-shaped dish with flared edges, repoussé foliate decoration and applied with the ‘Garuda Pancasila’; the national emblem of Indonesia, the whole within a polished arabesque outline, stamped ‘PDM800 DELUXE’, length approximately 28cm, depth 7cm. £300-£500
‘Yogya silver’ was manufactured in Java, Indonesia, during the second quarter of the 20th century, after a significant evolution in design was supported by both Javanese and Dutch advocates of the decorative arts. The production of ‘Yogya silver’ especially flourished after Indonesian independence was proclaimed in 1945.
