Charles I (1625-1649), Dovey Furnace mint, Groat, mm. crown, large plume above oval scroll-garnished shield, 2.08g/1h (SCBI Brooker 790, same dies; N 2354; S 2911). Small striking spilt and apparent tooling marks in fields, otherwise nearly very fine £300-£400

It was the opinion of the late Michael Sharp that the marks in the fields of many specimens of this coin were made during the manufacturing process and are not due to subsequent re-working
