Roman Republican Coinage, Caius Memmius Caii Filius, Denarius, Rome, 56 BC, c memmi c f before draped head of Ceres right, with wreath of corn in her hair which is tied into a knot and falls down her neck and wearing an earring, rev. c memmius right, imperator left, both downwards, between nude captive kneeling right at the foot of a trophy of arms with a Greek shield, 3.52g/12h (Ghey 243, this coin; Craw. 427/1; BMCRR 3937-9; RSC Memmia 10). ‘P’ banker’s mark to obverse on cheek, otherwise well centred with a nice even patina, about very fine £80-£100
