All but one of the 2016 proof sovereigns previously seen by the cataloguer carry the James Butler portrait, which was discontinued after one year. The present coin came from a Longest Reigning Monarch 5-coin set issued by the Royal Mint, with certificate number 021; a similar set, with certificate 026, was sold by the Royal Mint in their Timed Auction 2, 27 November 2022, lot 91
