Important British and World Coins

Henry II (1154-1189), Penny, type C2, Henri, [he]nri : on · s · ed[–], dies Jj, 1.44g/2h (Eaglen 59, B580, this coin; BMC –; N 957; S 1339). Slightly off-centre on an irregular flan and legends part flat, otherwise nearly very fine with clear portrait, exceedingly rare; one of only two recorded specimens, the other acquired by the British Museum in 1953 (£300-350)
