Anthony Joseph Goldie was born on 30 March 1896 at Fulham and educated at Wimbledon College, Wimbledon. A clerk by occupation, he enlisted as a Private in the 5th Battalion East Surrey Regiment on 3 August 1913. Posted to India in October 1914, he attained the rank of Sergeant in November 1916. In August 1917 he was commissioned a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry and promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on 25 November 1919. He served in the Third Afghan War with the 1st Battalion D.L.I. Goldie relinquished his commission on completion of service in November 1919. Sold with copied service details.
