William Crawford Reid was Lieutenant of Monarch at the bombardment of Alexandria. He subsequently landed with the Naval Brigade and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir. He served with the Nile Flotilla in 1884-85 and was awarded the 4th Class of the Medjidie for his services. Lieutenant Crawford died on 6 July 1888, while serving in the Warspite on Summer manoeuvres.
