George Stringer was born in and enlisted at Birmingham. Serving with the 17th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers he was awarded the M.M. for bravery. He died of wounds on 23 October 1917. He was buried in the Artillery Wood Cemetery, Ieper, West-Vlaaderen, Belgium.
