107 China 1842 medals issued to the 6th rate sloop H.M.S. Hyacinth. Launched in 1829 and scrapped in 1871, the ship played an important role in the early years of the First China War. On 3 November 1839 the Hyacinth and Volage were attacked by 29 armed junks off Hong Kong; in the action that followed, three were sunk and many more driven ashore.
