James John Cox Coles was born in Plymouth on 11 October 1863. A Shipwright by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy in May 1887. He was pensioned ashore in June 1909 but was recalled for service in the Great War, being based on one of the ‘Vivids’ throughout most of the conflict. Sold with copied service papers and research - entitled to the 1914-15 Star trio.
