Three: Lieutenant R. Sawyer, Royal Field Artillery, late Yorkshire Dragoons

Reginald Sawyer was born in Bradford and attested for the Queen’s Own Yorkshire Dragoons (T.F.) on 9 March 1909, aged 17 years, 4 months. Promoted to Serjeant in September 1914, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 July 1915. He was discharged to a commission in the 3/2 West Riding Brigade Royal Field Artillery on 1 January 1916. Returning to the Western Front, he was gassed at Bourlon Wood on 30 November 1917. Invalided to England he spent three months in the 3rd London General Hospital before being released for leave and thence home service. Sold with copied service papers and m.i.c.
