William Houlton was born in Rusholme, Lancashire and enlisted at Lancaster. Serving a C.Q.M.S. in the 7th Battalion Norfolk Regiment, he was killed in action on 25 October 1918, aged 36 years. He was buried in the Arras Road Cemetery, Roclincourt. He was the son of Alfred Houlton of Eccles and husband of Emily Amelia Houlton of 137A Bournville Villa, Stewart Road, Bournemouth.
