George Marr was born in and enlisted at Manchester. Serving with the 11th Battalion Manchester Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 16 August 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. He was the son of Elizabeth Tomlinson and stepson of Paul Tomlinson of St. Brannocks Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester.
