D.C.M. London Gazette 15 March 1916. ‘For conspicuous gallantry at Sulva, Gallipoli Peninsula, on the night of 18th November 1915, when, during a Turkish bombing attack, he brought in wounded men under heavy fire and recovered the body of an officer which had fallen into the hands of the Turks’.
