Eric Kemp was born on 12 March 1910. Living in Sutton in Ashfield, he joined the Territorial Army, serving with the Foresters on 24 June 1930. Kemp served with the B.E.F., April-June 1940. After serving with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, he was transferred in November 1941 to the 112th Regiment R.A.C. and thence to the Manchester Regiment in November 1943. With them he served in North Africa (sic), December 1943-October 1945. Returning home, he was transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve in December 1945. Awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1943 and clasp in 1947. With copied service notes.
