‘Awarded silver medal and two pounds for putting off in a boat and saving eight of the crew of the steam trawler Jackdaw of Hull which was wrecked at Basta Voe, Island of Yell, Shetlands, in a S.E. gale and a heavy sea on the 6th December 1915’ (Extract from R.N.L.I. Minutes).
