Patrick Delaney was born at Ballinakill, Queen’s County, and enlisted on 4 October 1882, aged 19 years 6 months, a farmer by profession. He served with the R.M. Battalion in Egypt from June 1884 to July 1885, and was discharged ‘invalided’ on 10 January 1888 (ADM 159/22).
