James Grenfell Care was born at St. Ives, Cornwall, on 25 November 1888 and served with the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry during the Great War. He enlisted into the Royal Air Force on 15 March 1921, and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in August 1935. He saw further service at home during the Second World War, and was released on 21 September 1945. He died in St. Ives on 17 January 1947.
