George Robert Sandell Jeram was born in Portsmouth in July 1899 and joined the Army on 8 March 1917. Mobilised into the Devonshire Regiment on 7 June 1917, he was subsequently posted to the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, and served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 1 April 1918. Demobilised, he re-enliisted on 11 February 1919, and saw further service in Mesopotamia in 1920, and was discharged at Exeter on 31 March 1921. He died in Hampshire on 18 February 1965.
