G. E. Neves was commissioned on 28 September 1916 and served with the 7th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment.

Frank Woolnough was born on 28 February 1886. A student at St. John’s Hall, University of Durham, studying for the Church, and a member of the University O.T.C., he was gazetted to the 10th (Reserve) Battalion Leicestershire Regiment in July 1915. As a Lieutenant and Acting Adjutant, serving with the 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was wounded in action in an attack on Guedecourt, 29 September 1916. Woolnough received shrapnel wounds to the chest, piercing the lung, right arm, right ear and left thigh, and was concussed when a further shell knocked out his stretcher bearers. He was treated at the Red Cross Hospital No.1 at Le Torquet and then at the Northumberland War Hospital at Gosforth. His wounds resulted in him being unfit for further active service. Sold with copied service papers.
