Frederick Llewellyn Page Pemberthy was born in Aberystwyth in November 1936 and joined the Royal Air Force as a Boy Entrant in February 1954. Qualifying as a Telegraphist, he served in Nicosia from June 1958 to December 1960, in Aden from July 1962 to July 1964, and at R.A.F. Bukit Gombak (Singapore Island) from May to June 1965, during the Malay Peninsula operations - he was evacuated from the latter location on medical grounds. Page was discharged in November 1968; sold with an original authority to wear slip for the General Service Medal 1962, citing entitlement to the “Malay Peninsula” clasp.
