D.C.M. London Gazette 2 December 1919:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and tenacity at Corbehem on the 12th October, 1918. He encouraged his Lewis-gun team forward under heavy fire, and finally secured a position commanding the bridge over the Scarpe Deviation, and inflicted heavy casualties upon the enemy, whose harassing fire was becoming extremely troublesome. When his No. 1 was wounded, he immediately took his place and kept the gun in action for a considerable time, during which he himself was wounded.’
M.M. London Gazette 17 December 1917.
