William H. Masters, an engine driver by trade, served with the Royal Engineers (Territorial Force) during the Great War, and was demobilised on 7 March 1919, was awarded the T.E.M. in November 1921. Re-enlisting into the Regular Forces, he subsequently served at the Railway Training Centre at Longmoor, Hampshire.
