George Henry Harris was born in Newton Nethercote, Leicestershire and living in Heather, enlisted at Coalville, Leicestershire. Serving in the 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 19 September 1918, aged 25 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. He was the son of William and Hannah Harris of Swepstone Road, Heather, Leicester.
