John Garrett is listed in the published Naval General Service Medal rolls as having been awarded the N.G.S. with clasps for 1 June 1794 and Nile, serving as an Ordinary Seaman aboard H.M.S. Defence in the first action and as an Able Seaman aboard the same ship in the second.
