James Belcher was born in Littleburn, Durham, lived at Horden Colliery, Co. Durham and enlisted at Sunderland, initially serving in the Royal Garrison Artillery. As a Lance-Corporal in the 5th Battalion Cameron Highlanders, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 17 October 1916, aged 29 years. He was buried in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. James Belcher was the son of Robert Belcher, of 49 12th Street, Hordon, Sunderland. With copied casualty details.
