Robert Samuel Dudley served as a Corporal with the 31st Indian Divisional Signal Company in France from July 1915. Subsequently commissioned into the Indian Army Reserve of Officers in March 1916, he joined the 59th Scinde Rifles in Mesopotamia in the following month, and participated in all of the regiment’s major actions in that theatre of war, including the final attacks on Kut and the battle of Tekrit, and in the final advance in Palestine. Advanced to Lieutenant in March 1917, he was latterly a Company Officer in the acting rank of Captain and, as verified by regimental sources, was mentioned in despatches. Dudley was demobilised in March 1919; sold with further details.
