A fine North-West Frontier 1930-31 operations I.D.S.M. awarded to Sepoy Manawar Khan, 6-13 Rifles, who shot dead two rebel Wazirs in a close quarters action

One of three I.D.S.Ms to the regiment for these operations.

Manawar Khan was decorated for the following deeds in an action against Hathi Khel Wazirs in August 1930:

‘This man was Captain Ashcroft’s runner. Captain Ashcroft was first hit on the head by a talwar, and Manawar Khan immediately shot and killed the assailant. Almost at the same moment Captain Ashcroft was shot through the head and Manawar immediately killed this man as well’ (
