William Gordon Archer, who was born in February 1918 and a native of Darlington, enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps in October 1939 and was advanced to war substantive Sergeant in June 1941. A butcher by profession, he was onetime attached to No. 6 (West African) Field Butchery Section during his operational career in North Africa and Burma; sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient’s Certified Copy of Attestation, Soldier’s Service and Pay Book and Military Motor Vehicle Drivers’ Licence and Orders, together with several wartime photographs.
