B.E.M. London Gazette 8 June 1944. The original recommendation states:

‘This Non-Commissioned Officer has been in ‘K’ and ‘L’ Sections, 49 (W.R.) Divisional Signals since the outbreak of the War and is at present N.C.O. in command of Dispatch Riders. The task of the D.Rs in Iceland was one of the most severe of the whole force, as roads and weather conditions were often bad during two Arctic winters. In spite of these difficulties, Lance-Corporal Mann was always cheerful and carried out his duties with the greatest efficiency, determination and enthusiasm. Since returning to this country he has maintained the same high standard, both as Section N.C.O. and in maintaining his vehicles. Not only does he carry out duties allotted to him quickly and efficiently, but he takes the greatest interest in all section matters and is invariably cheerful and willing.’
