Tarrant, 2nd Hampshire Regt.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (3349 Serjt:-Major E. V. Tarrant. Hampshire Regt.); 1914-15 Star (Q.M. & Lieut. E. V. Tarrant. Hamps: R.); British War and Victory Medals (Q.M. & Capt. E. V. Tarrant) attempted erasure of ‘Q.M. &’ on these last two, the earlier medals with contact marks and polished, otherwise nearly very fine or better (6) £2000-2500

Edwin Victor Tarrant was born at Brockhurst, near Gosport, on 18 January 1873. He attested for the Hampshire Regiment on 27 February 1891. He served as Colour-Sergeant, and later as Sergeant-Major, with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa from 4 January 1900 to 28 September 1902. He was commissioned as Lieutenant and Quarter-Master, whilst stationed at Bermuda, on 7 September 1907, and served with the 1st Battalion in France from 7 June 1915.
