562425 Squadron-Leader (Pilot) H.S. Burrows; b. 11 January 1912; in 18th Halton Entry, September 1928; early in 1940 Burrows was one of a small number of Directional Wireless Installation-equipped Wellington pilots engaged in surveying magnetic mines in the English Channel and Thames estuary, later posted to the Middle East with his unit; first commissioned 18 November 1940; MID L.G. 8 June 1944; appointed Squadron-Leader 1 January 1949; retired 1 May 1959. His medal entitlement was 1939-45 Star, Africa Star and clasp North Africa 1942-43, Defence and War Medals with MID and Coronation 1953. Further research, including a portrait photograph and other group photographs, some taken at Halton, are sold with the lot.
