David Burn served in the 75th (Sharpshooters) Company, 18th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in the South Africa during the Boer War and subsequently as a ‘Strapper’ in the Remounts Section, 1st Brigade, Army Service Corps during the Great War on the Western Front from 20 August 1914.
