Cemenelum was the Roman capital of the Alpes-Maritime province, an important rival to the city of Nice. Located in the present-day Nice suburb of Cimiez is the Musée archéologique de Nice-Cemenelum and the well-preserved remains of the town, which includes an amphitheatre, baths and an early Christian basilica.
