Herman Epstein (1806-67) was a Jewish financier who played a leading role in constructing the railways between Warsaw and Vienna (1845) and Warsaw and Bromberg (1857), brokering loans from Rothschilds in Frankfurt. Between 1857 and 1865 he served as chairman of the board of both railways.
