Stanley Aukett was born in Leytonstone, Essex, in 1890 and attested for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry at Stratford, Essex, on 3 September 1914. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 26 January 1915, before transferring to the Army Service Corps on 22 July 1918, and was Mentioned in Despatches for Salonika (London Gazette 30 January 1919). He was discharged, Class ‘Z’, on 30 May 1919, and died in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, on 2 July 1959.

Thomas Cole was conscripted into the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 11 March 1916, despite only having one eye! He transferred to the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry on 27 March 1916 served with the 12th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 7 May 1916.

William Robert Edmonds attested for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War.
