Cyril Abel was born in 1888 and lived at 3 Green Hill, Lichfield. He served in France from 5 March to 26 October 1915, but struggled with rheumatism in the damp autumnal conditions of the Western Front. Returned home, he later served with the Royal Defence Corps.
