Capt St John Crichton Stocker, C Company, 2nd Bn Northamptonshire Regt, was killed in action on 12 March 1915, aged 26, and is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial. He was the son of Col. M.E.C. and Mrs A.T. Stocker, of Wimbledon. Arthur Robert Whiffin, Sgt, RAFVR, attached to 70th Squadron, was killed in action on 2 December 1944, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Malta memorial. He was the son of Arthur and Violet Whiffin, of Shepherd’s Bush.
Colet Court, the preparatory school for boys attached to St Paul’s, was founded as Colet House in 1881. Initially housed in Edith road, W6, the school subsequently moved to a new site in Hammersmith in 1890. In 1968 the school moved to its present site in Barnes. The Polytechnic Harriers held their first meeting in 1883 at Merton; from 1906 meetings were held at the Hogg Memorial Ground, Chiswick. Obverses of first and third only illustrated
