Greek Coinages, Syracuse: Double-Dekadrachm [100 Litrai], struck under Dionysios I, c. 380-90; school of Kimon

Obverse: sυρ[–]; head of Arethusa left, hair bound by sakkos, wearing pendant necklace and pearled earring; two pellets either side of neck

Reverse: Herakles kneeling right, strangling the Nemean lion

Metal: gold; local weight standard; 5.80g/3h

Condition: Extremely fine, perfectly centred with residual mint lustre; beautiful and very rare £10,000-£12,000
