Greek Coinages, KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA, Alexander III, the Great (336-323): Stater, struck at Sidon, Phoenicia, in year 10 [324/323]

Obverse: head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated on bowl with coiled snake

Reverse: αλεχανδρου: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; date [k] in left field, σι by feet

Metal: gold; Attic weight standard; 7.85g/11h

Condition: removed from a mount; good very fine, reddish toning with traces of wax deposit £900-£1,200
