Greek Coinages, KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA, Philip V (221-179): Tetradrachm, struck at Amphipolis on the occasion of Philip’s accession, c. 221-20

Obverse: head right with neatly curled hair and short beard; wearing royal diadem

Reverse: βασιλεωσ φιλιππου: Athena Alkidemos striding left, brandishing thunderbolt and holding Aegis on raised left arm; monogram to inner left [σρ] and inner right [ερ]

Metal: silver; Attic weight standard; 16.84g/12h

Condition: Extremely fine and lightly toned, with a few trifling marks to the reverse £3,000-£3,600
