Roman Republican Coinage, Publius Plautius Hypsaeus, Denarius, Rome, 60 BC, [–] before head of Neptune, bearded, trident behind, rev. c ypsae [–]/priv, in exergue, [–] upwards right, Jupiter in quadriga, horses galloping left, he throws thunderbolt with right hand and holds reigns in left, scorpion below horses feet, 3.56g/4h (Ghey 231, this coin; Craw. 420/1b; BMCRR 3843-4; RSC Plautia 11a). Banker’s marks on obverse to Neptune’s cheek and below truncation, otherwise nice dark patina and fine £40-£60
