Anne Lee Guinness (1839-89), grand-daughter of Arthur Guinness, founder of the brewing empire, married William Conyngham Plunket, 4th Baron (1828-97) in June 1863. At the time of her death her husband was archbishop of Dublin. Went records that Lady Plunket had been much interested in the Dublin Women’s Work Association and in the Clergy Daughters School, which was founded in 1843; she was instrumental in establishing the school in new premises in Earlsfort terrace, Dublin. The medal was instituted by the Trust established in her name in September 1890
